Andersonville Wine Walk

What it is:  Wine, shopping, and a one-of-a-kind wine glass, seems like the perfect event. There will be two routes (North and South) featuring 10 retailers and 30 wines to taste each. You and your friends can split up between North and South and compete to see who can finish first! (this is probably a terrible idea, don’t do this)

Dates: May 17, 2015

Hours: 3pm – 6pm

Neighborhood:  Andersonville

Address: 5211 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60601

Cost:  $45

Site and App Rebuild!

If you’re reading this, you’ve already found our newly designed site.  We had some big ideas for how we wanted the updated site to look.  Some of those ideas were implemented (full screen layout, cleaner look, nice banner area if festivals want to advertise or promote themselves on our site).  Some ideas proved too difficult to tackle in our limited free time (database driven calendar to make the site easier to update and maintain).  But.  We’re pretty happy with how things are looking.

We also redesigned our CTF iOS app.  We added the ability to add Chicago festivals to your list of favorites.  And then the app will notify you if one of those fests is starting (in case you forget).  It’s also a much cleaner and updated look – we’re pretty excited about it.  If you don’t have it already, be sure to check it out asap.

Forest Glen Garden Walk

What it is:  Chicago’s Forest Glen neighborhood. Where is it? What is it? Can I take a self guided tour through the the gardens? The answers to these often pondered questions are as follows: just off the Forest Glen Metra stop, a northwest Chicago neighborhood, and yes. In fact, the Forest Glen Community Club is hosting its first even Garden Walk this summer! You’ll be able to take that self guided tour, attend presentations by master gardeners, and even meditate by the koi pond if that’s your thing. It’s a great opportunity to check out this oft forgotten Chicago neighborhood complete with amazing architecture, great restaurants and a forest preserve. Even if you’re not a green thumb yourself, its worth checking out this festival if only to expand your knowledge of the Chicago area. But remember. Fishing in the koi pond is frowned upon.
