Wicker Park Fest

What it is:  What started as a small neighborhood affair nine years ago has blossomed into one of the most highly anticipated Chicago festivals of the season. Once again, cutting edge local and national acts will fill out a jam-packed weekend.  In addition to the highly regarded live music bill, Wicker Park Fest is a showcase of its diverse neighborhood. Historic yet hip, Chicago’s Wicker Park and Bucktown district offers a variety of lifestyle options (you can be a bro or a hipster or both if you are especially clever), acclaimed restaurants, family activities, a trendy fashion scene and a newly introduced distinctive arts element in 2012, all represented at the fest.  We’ll post the music acts when they’re announced, best rest assured they’ll be awesome!

Riot Fest & Carnival

What it is:  Riot Fest & Carnival is a three day festival of bands, carnival games, and hoppy beverages.  We’ll fill you in on this years bands when they get announced, but the festival has never let us down in the past, with bands like Weezer, Iggy & The Stooges, Rise Against, Elvis Costello, and The Offpsring.  Plus, how often do you find yourself in Humboldt Park? After Dark? Playing Whack A’Mole?  Probably not as often as you’d like.  So we’d suggest making it your beeswax to be there.

Bucktown Tree and Garden Walk

What it is:  If you thought Bucktown was just a Chicago neighborhood where bros and hipsters co-existed – think again. It’s ALSO a neighborhood where trees and gardens co-exist and long for you to walk amongst them.  Well, during the Bucktown Tree and Garden Walk, that’s exactly what you’ll get to do.  There’ll be a free trolley that can take you to the sites, but as the word ‘walk’ is in the title, we recommend swinging by Club Lucky or Lotties to pick up your guideback and then taking it to the streets yourself!
